Virginia Beach Virginia

virginia beach informationVirginia Beach offers everyone, from college students to families, an opportunity to enjoy a sun-soaked vacation. One of the East Coast's most popular resorts, 5.4 million tourists make it their destination of choice year after year. For families in particular this oceanfront town is ideal, as there is lots to do and see.

Upon arriving feel free to take in the sights and sounds via the Hampton Roads Transit Beach Trolley that runs from the north end of the beach to South Rudee Inlet. When that is over check out a military air show, stroll along the 40 blocks of newly renovated boardwalk that run along this, the world's largest, pleasure beach, or visit some of the many parks and historic sites. It won't be long before you begin to realize that you have only begun to scratch the surface!

As summertime rolls in so do the many large festivals to which Virginia Beach plays host. These include the Viva Elvis Festival in which Elvis impersonators flood the strip with parades and performances, the East Coast Surfing Championship, the American Music Festival and Beach Street U.S.A.

When the temperature grows too hot to stay outside set aside some hours to take in the Virginia Marine Science Museum. Home to tanks of sharks and other aquatic life, the Virginia Marine Science Museum is the most visited museum in the state. Offering a glimpse into a world that few have seen first-hand it includes over 300 hands-on exhibits and a 3D IMAX theater. The museum also offers dolphin-watching cruises in the summer and whale watching in the winter.

For those with children many options for family fun exist. In addition to visiting the Marine Science Museum, the entire family can take part in a First Landing State Park crabbing class or head over to the Holiday Trav-L Park where activities such as hayrides, bingo and music are regularly held. The park's facilities include 4 swimming pools, 6 playgrounds, horseshoe pits, volleyball and basketball courts. Like Virginia Beach's other sights and attractions they will provide you with plenty to do and see. Whether your interests are water sports, fishing, dining out, sightseeing or simply sunbathing, Virginia Beach is ready to help you make your vacation a memorable one.
